Cranberry Extract

I'm all about trying to find natural remedies for the little problems that arise. I'm prone to UTIs (urinary tract infections). Most women are it turns out. Men can still get them, but they're not as common since the plumbing is routed differently. LOL

When I feel one coming on (you can't miss the symptoms — constant urge to pee with no urine, pain, etc), I let the fever crank up and I start popping Vitamin C and Cranberry extract. I only resort to a doctor's visit and the ultimate antibiotic if this doesn't do the trick.

Better Wear Your Sunscreen

Since I'm blogging in support of a cancer-related charity, I would be remiss if I didn't speak about things we can do to prevent developing cancer. Marisa wants to remind us that the best thing that we can do to prevent skin cancer is to wear sunscreen.

Sunscreen can also help keep your skin from aging prematurely.

I shudder at all the times I purposely burned my skin when I was younger in efforts to develop a deeper tan.

Breakfast of Champions

They tell us breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it is. Unfortunately, I can't make myself eat first thing in the morning. Food consumption right after I wake up makes me want to hurl.

I've been keeping oatmeal packets to eat in my desk drawer at work (nobody has found them and stole them yet), it's better than nothing, but it's not really a balanced breakfast. Sometimes I'll eat dry Frosted Mini Wheats on my drive in since milk in the morning makes me sleepy.

That's one thing I really miss about college...the cafeteria. It was usually still open after my first class, so I could scoot in and get a variety of breakfast foods without cooking.

Wouldn't it be cool if work places offered such a thing for their employees?

Proper Nutrition

I know I don't get the proper nutrition on any given day. Even when I do eat a balanced diet, a lot of our foods are not as nutrient rich (due to over-farming, etc) as they were in the past.

It's important to supplement your diet with a multi-vitamin. I know I can tell a major difference in my moods and in my physical well-being between when I take one and when I forget. It's harder to concentrate or sometimes even function when I don't get enough essential vitamins and minerals. I believe that most children that are diagnosed as ADHD are simply suffering from poor nutrition.

I read somewhere that vitamins in gelatin capsules are better for you than hard pills, but now I can't find that reference. It mentioned something about your body not breaking down the whole pill before you expel it. Not sure about that one!

Halfway

So, 7 pm MDT and we're at the halfway mark in the old Blogathong. w00t!

Nothing substantial because I just ate a french dip sandwich for dinner and it was yummy. I'm just going to relax and savor the pleasantly full feeling I have.
